Beaches and where to go on a trip.

Beach in Government Quarter

On the left side, from the window of our apartment, you can see a beautiful beach, where usually only a few people sunbathe. It is the private beach of the government district and also the beach of Melanie restaurant. And here's our tip. If you call the restaurant in advance and reserve a place for lunch, the restaurant will report you to the concierge and you will have no problem going through the inspection. You can then rent sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach and stay there all day. The price is not exorbitant and corresponds to the beaches in the area. You pay 2000 ALL per day for a set of 2 sunbeds and a parasol. We can only recommend lunch at Melania. They cook excellently and the prices correspond to better restaurants in the area. We left the phone for the restaurant in the apartment. Definitely recommend..

Cape Rodon beach

If you feel like taking a day trip from Drač, we definitely recommend a trip and swimming at Cape Rodon. In addition to the beautiful landscape, which reminds many of southern England, Cape Rodon (Kepi and Rodonit in Albanian) can offer you Skanderbeg's fortress and the extraordinary monastery of St. Anthony. The entrance fee to Cape Rodon is 100 ALL per adult and it is definitely worth it. A separate experience is swimming in the Adriatic Sea, which is the cleanest here thanks to the rocky shores. You can then rent sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach (1000 ALL). You can go to the beach restaurant for lunch, which they masterfully converted from a local bunker..

Portez beach

Portez beach is just one representative of the beautiful beaches that Albania has to offer. Portez is a beautiful sandy beach that lies a little to the side, so you don't have to worry about crowds. You can have refreshments right on the beach in a pleasant bar. Above the beach you will find a restaurant that directly invites you to have a snack. And if it happens that the sunbeds are already occupied, just walk a little further and enjoy undisturbed solitude..

Pláž i General

Another tip for an easy trip. The journey to this beautiful beach can be more difficult, but this place will make up for it with its charm. Beautiful cliffs alternate with sand. If you just want to relax on the beach and the children play on the sand, then the main part will suit you. They have sunbeds here for 1000 ALL (2022 prices) and there are plenty of them available. If you want some privacy, you can walk away from the main beach and find your place on the tiny beaches that line the coast. Just watch out for waves, so we recommend choosing this option when there is no wind. On the beach you will find a changing room, toilet and showers. The beach is very well maintained by Albanian standards. We also met a lifeguard on the beach. You can buy food either at the bistro directly above the main beach. They have several prepared meals on offer. You can also use a nearby restaurant, exactly as we did. Spaghetti bolognese for 600 ALL, fish soup for 400 ALL, fries for about 350 ALL. The food was very good, but especially the view and the overall atmosphere, it was priceless. But definitely don't forget to have a coffee or a cocktail at the bar on the sea. Preso for 120 ALL and the view along with the sound of the waves crashing on the cliffs is definitely worth it..

Pebble beach

We're not sure what the name of this beach is, but we were excited about it, so we're adding it as well. We called it the pebble beach :-). The beach is just outside Dračí, and even though we were here in season (July 2023), there were very few people on it. The entrance to the sea here is rocky. Water shoes are of course an advantage, but we managed without them. We definitely recommend at least swimming goggles or diving and snorkels, as there was the most to see underwater here from the whole area. Just watch out for hedgehogs, we've seen them here too. There is a restaurant above the beach, and a pleasant bar on the wooden pier. The children were delighted with the family sunbeds, which cost 2000 ALL (400 CZK) per day. Classic on the beach then 500 ALL..

Tips for a trip

There are plenty of beautiful places in Albania, and everyone will find something for themselves here. Sights, culture, people, gastronomy, mountains, lakes, and the sea. Every day in Albania is an experience..

The city of Berat is rightly considered one of the most beautiful Albanian cities..

You can certainly find its history in guidebooks or on the Internet))) But the guide won't give you those experiences. We definitely recommend a tour of the castle and local gastronomy.

We love the city of Berat, we ride here from Durres by bike, and we sleep variously through booking with the local Albanians, who are extremely hospitable..

And the wild blue lake Bovilla (alb. Liqeni i Bovillës) is the most interesting landscape part of the Dajt National Park. It is a hidden natural treasure that is the ideal destination for a day trip from Tirana. You shouldn't miss the panoramic restaurant and rock lookout here..

We were here by bike, it was a beautiful journey full of experiences. We were rewarded with an excellent restaurant with local specialties and, of course, a beautiful view.  .

Divjakë-Karavasta National Park stretches along the coast of central Albania and includes diverse ecosystems including wetlands, lagoons, sand dunes and pine forests . It is especially famous for its rich bird population. It is therefore a paradise for bird watchers, you can even see the endangered curly pelican here.

We haven't been here yet, but we're definitely going. A friend who was here told us that it is an incredible experience that is worth seeing. .
